The project will lead to the creation of an online archive of letters created by the public for the public, which will be launched in 2016. People can get involved by uploading any letters written between 1 Nov 1915 and 31 Oct 1916 or by transcribing some of the 1500 letters which have already been contributed to the archive.

The Letters 1916-1923 online archive is continuously updated and expanded by the public for the public. People can get involved by uploading Irish-themed letters written between 1 Nov 1915 and 31 Dec 1923, or by transcribing letters which have already been contributed to the archive. Following our website re-launch and considerable additions to our online archive, we are looking for volunteers to be a part of the research process by transcribing and reviewing letters from a key period in Irish history. Transcribers pick topics they are interested in (e.g. the Easter Rising, the Great War, love letters, politics, or medicine). This work is carried out online, so volunteers can work from home and to their own schedule.
