Collection Volunteers in Clones on Sunday 24th June

Special Olympics Ulster

About Special Olympics Ulster

Special Olympics Ireland is a sports organisation providing year round sports training and competition to athletes with an intellectual disability. In the Ulster region we have 64 community sports clubs, special schools, adult centres and services providing weekly training sessions to over 2000 athletes. All of our clubs are managed by teams of volunteers who give their valuable time to ensure our athletes can develop and perform at regional, national and international events.

Over the past 40 years many of our supporters have been helping us to transform lives through sport. Our annual Collection Day continues to be the biggest and most important fundraiser of the year for the Special Olympics programme. In 2018 our Collection Day volunteers helped to raise over €500,000 to help fund our year round programmes and competitions - including the 2018 Ireland Games.

For 91 of our athletes, 2019 is especially exciting as they prepare to compete on an international stage, to represent Ireland at the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019 in Abu Dhabi. But for all our thousands of athletes across Ireland, the support you provide allows the opportunity to reunite with friends, grow their confidence and improve their skills.

What's Involved

Special Olympics Ireland will be hosting a collection at the Ulster GAA Football final on 24th June in Clones. We will be collecting for around 1 hour before the match and again for 1 hour after the match, so volunteers will need to be available between 1.00pm and 4:30pm. Refreshments will be provided for volunteers during the match.

Volunteers under the age of 16 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

It may be possible to arrange transport from Monaghan Town to Clones.
