RNLI (Sligo Branch) - Sligo

About RNLI (Sligo Branch) - Sligo

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland, and a seasonal lifeguard service. With our lifeboats, lifeguards, safety advice and flood rescue, we are committed to saving lives.

What's Involved

Would you like to be part of a happy band of volunteers that are helping to save lives at sea without even getting wet? Could you get involved in inspiring visiting groups of children, young people and adults when they visit the Sligo Bay Lifeboat Station by giving tours and delivering key messages about the work of the RNLI and staying safe near water?

Volunteering as a member of the Lifeboat Visits team and being part of the RNLI’s Sligo Bay Lifeboat Station means playing an important role within the charity as we aim to save the lives of people of all age groups through our visits programme. A message given today could mean a life saved tomorrow.

In this role you will give inspiring guided tours of the lifeboat station to young people and adult groups, presenting our vital water safety messages alongside promoting the work of the RNLI to motivate the next generation of RNLI supporters. You will liaise with the other volunteer team members and the volunteer Lifeboat Visits Officer, and together you will ensure that the visits do not impact negatively on operational procedures at the station.

Just as we give all our Lifeboat crews the right training and equipment to carry out their lifesaving work, we provide all of our volunteers with the necessary training and support to carry out their role effectively. RNLI volunteers have access to a range of online learning materials, as well as opportunities for one to one support from fellow volunteers and RNLI specialists.

Please join us in making a difference to the safety of people of all ages.
