About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ireland (Foroige)

Big Brother Big Sister is an internationally renowned one-to-one mentoring program for young people.

It matches an adult volunteer to a young person who would benefit from additional support. The aim of the program is for a caring and supportive friendship to develop and reinforce the positive development of the young person.

What's Involved

The adult volunteer will become a role model, mentor and most of all a friend to a young person in need of extra support in their lives.

The volunteer has to participate in a training day and commit to meet a young person for 1-2 hours per week over the minimum of one year. The volunteer has to abide by Big Brothers Big Sisters guidelines.

The volunteer programme especially needs male volunteers.

The following areas have young people who live there that would genuinely love a Big Brother or Big Sister to talk to:

Balbriggan,
Castleknock,
Clontarf,
Coolock,
Donabate,
Donaghmede,
D13 - Baldoyle,
D15- Blanchardstown,
Finglas,
Garristown,
Glasnevin,
Howth,
Lusk,
Malahide,
Naul,
Portmarnock,
Rush,
Santry,
Skerries,
Sutton,
Swords,
and other areas within Fingal North Dublin.

Training is provided and is mandatory.
