About RCSI Hospital Group

The Minister for Health has established hospital groups as part of a transition to independent hospital trusts. RCSI Hospitals is comprised of Beaumont Hospital, Cavan General Hospital, Connolly Hospital, Louth County Hospital, Monaghan Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital – Drogheda, Rotunda Hospital and RCSI (Academic Partner). RCSI Hospitals provides a national service and a regional service to Dublin and the North East.

What's Involved

The purpose of our Volunteer Service is to enable Our Lady of Lourdes hospital to encorporate community involvement in ensuring that the public & all patients receiving treatment in Our Lady of Lourdes General Hospital receive their care in a welcoming integrated manner.
The main roles of the volunteer will be to

  • provide a friendly welcome and reassuring first impression to patients and visitors
  • to assist and guide visitors and patients to the various wards, departments and clinics in the hospital.
  • help to make the experience whilst in the hospital as pleasant as possible in what can be a worrying, overpowering experience for some members of the public and patients.
    Volunteer Services will be located at the Health Promotion Desk in the main hospital
    Specific tasks will include:
  • Provide directions & information.
  • Assisting patients/visitors to clinics, departments
  • Inform staff of patients experiencing significant issues
    Please note there may be a delay in processing as all volunteers are garda vetted, will be interviewed and must attend training and information sessions.
    Volunteers will be supported by the Volunteer Coordinator

    Minimum time commitment: 6 months

    Hours required: 4hrs Weekly
