About Barretstown
At Barretstown we believe that every child with serious illness should enjoy their childhood. Barretstown is a residential camp for children with a serious illness offering a range of adventurous and challenging activities and supported behind the scenes by safe, medical attention and care - always for free. Barretstown is a break from hospitals, white coats and medical treatment and a chance for sick children to be children again: to have fun, to make new friends and create new memories - all within the beautiful and magical setting of Barretstown castle in the Kildare countryside
What's Involved
On Sat 8th July we are having our annual Barretstown Big Picnic where approximately 2000 people come to Barretstown for a family fun day out. This year we have Fossett's Circus doing 3 shows and we'll also have many of our activities that are used during camp open to the public i.e. canoeing, pony rides, arts & crafts, balloon making, crazy golf as well as plenty of competitions and prizes on the day. We are looking for volunteers to help in a variety of areas from registration coordinators, circus ushers, information handlers, housekeeping personnel, merchandise sellers, raffle callers and dining hall hosts.
