About Sligo University Hospital Volunteer Service

The aim of the Meet & Greet Volunteer Role is to seek out patients who are lost or unsure of where they are going. Provide directions. Assist with accompanying patients to various wards/departments/clinics/out patients. Be actively involved in engaging in a friendly manner in talking with patients and visitors to the hospital. Maintain strict confidentiality in relating to patients and visitors alike in accordance with the Hospitals Confidentiality Policy.

What's Involved

The main role of the volunteer will be to provide a friendly welcome, reassuring first impression to all who enter the hospital and to assist and guide visitors and patients to the various wards, departments and clinics in the hospital. The Volunteer Services will be provided in the main reception area along with Out Patient Department and other areas as required. The Volunteers role will also help to make the experience whilst in the hospital as pleasant as possible in what can be a worrying overpowering experience for some members of the public and patients.
br> Specific tasks will include: Front hall Duties(via the Volunteer Information Desk) Provide directions & information. Assisting patients/visitors to clinics, departments etc.....

The volunteer will have a 4-8 week waiting time after we have received the volunteers completed application form to allow for reference checks and Garda Vetting process to take place. We appreciate your patience and regret any inconvenience caused by this delay.

What's required for this position

Excellent Communication Skills Organisational Skills Friendly manner Ability to work as part of a team.

Level of English required for this role:
Fluent English

Minimum time commitment: 6 months

Hours required: 3hrs
