What's Involved
Do you have personal experience of the local Mental Health services either as a service user or a family member? Are you willing to share your opinions of what works well and what could be improved in the service with others?
In 2018, a group of people with lived experience of using mental health services and people working in the mental health service started a Recovery Committee to bring people who provide services, those who use them and their families and community supports together. We meet bi-monthly to discuss recovery issues and report to the Area Mental Health Management Team.
Some of our areas of interest that we wish to focus on this year are –
•Understanding the experience of using services and changes we can make to how the service communicates with service users and family members.
• Hosting community events to reduce stigma around mental health showing how services are accessed, what to expect from a mental health service and what community groups provide.
• Establishing a wellness hub in Sligo.
• Recovery education programmes.
We currently require members with lived experience as service user and family members to join our group. As a member you will be asked to attend bi-monthly meetings and also join a subcommittee.
Please click 'Apply Now' below if you wish to join and I can meet with you to discuss further. Spaces are limited.
