About A Dogs Life
Dunboyne Pound takes in more than 1,000 dogs per year. We rescue dogs to give them a second chance. These dogs have been either:
1) surrendered by their owners and if not homed from the pound can be put to sleep within 24 hours;
2) picked up as strays by dog wardens and if not homed/reclaimed in 5 days can be put to sleep.
Thanks to the work of volunteers the dogs put to sleep rate has decreased from 62% in 2004 to 7% in 2008.
What's Involved
A good foster home is extremely important so we can prepare our dogs coming from the pound for their new lives.
