About North West STOP
North West STOP (formally “STOP suicide”) was founded in 2004 by families who were bereaved by suicide. We are a community, voluntary body that works to prevent suicide by informing, educating and promoting positive suicide prevention policies throughout the west and north-west of Ireland. We provide a free confidential counselling service for those who are experiencing difficulties in day to day life. Our administration office is located upstairs at the Beepark Resource Centre in Manorhamilton Co. Leitrim.
At present, we receive no government or corporate funding which means we rely entirely on the generosity of the public for donations and fundraising events.
Our fully qualified Garda Vetted Counsellors are located across Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan, Longford, Mayo, & Roscommon. Each of the counsellors have their own counselling rooms available. We also have a counselling room available at the Beepark Resource Centre in Manorhamilton.
Many of our clients have attempted to seek help elsewhere and have either been placed on long waiting lists or their needs have not been met.
