Meet and Greet Volunteers

Sanctuary Runners Sligo

About Sanctuary Runners Sligo

The Sanctuary Runners enable Irish People to run alongside, and in solidarity with, those in Direct Provision thereby fostering friendship, positivity and respect while bringing greater awareness to the system in which asylum seekers live. A non-profit organisation run solely by volunteers we aim to use sport, and running in particular, to build bridges between communities and to show we are all equal.

What's Involved

This Role will involve meeting and greeting the Sanctuary Runners each week at Park Run. You can introduce the runners to one another and see how everyone is doing. You will also encourage the runners to stay and chat after the run and perhaps go for a coffee. The role will be on a rota basis so you can choose your days on a Sat morning 9.30 am when you are free.

Sanctuary Runners brings together Irish people and asylum seekers in Direct Provision enabling them to run on the same Sanctuary Runners team. We are non-political and our focus is on humanitarianism and positive action. The positive impact of physical exercise and the normality brought by running shoulder-to-shoulder with others benefits asylum seekers and Irish runners alike.
