Volunteers are central to the work of Sligo Social Services. Volunteers work alongside professional staff to deliver vital services to those in need.

What's Involved

This is a very interesting and rewarding role for a reliable and friendly person, and many of our volunteers have been delivering for 10 to 20 years.

As a Meals on Wheels Delivery Person, you would call to collect hot meals at approx. 11.45 one day a week. Using your own car, you deliver 12 to 15 meals in an area less than 5 miles from Sligo town.

You may be the only person the meal recipient talks to that day. A few cheery words go a long way, especially as people are more isolated than ever.

We will explain the guidelines to ensure everybody’s safety and well being while collecting and delivering meals.

What's required for this position

The drivers need to be confidential reliable and friendly. You must be willing to follow best practice procedures in everyone's interest
