Celbridge ADL Foróige Club Volunteer

Foroige Club Development Kildare

About Foroige Club Development Kildare

The purpose of Foróige is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and in the development of society. Foróige’s work is about development. We aim to empower young people to develop their own abilities and attributes, to think for themselves, to make things happen and to contribute to their community and society. As a result, they develop increased self-confidence, self-reliance, resilience and greater capacity to take charge of their lives. Foróige’s clubs, projects and services, and education programmes are designed to achieve these outcomes. Key features of Foróige’s educational process are: that young people have ownership of the process, interact with real life situations, learn by doing, are actively involved in the community; there is involvement of adult volunteers; there is an emergent curriculum responsive to young people’s needs; the process is community based.

What's Involved

Foróige clubs provide a safe place for Young People to hang out, meet new friends and have a voice. As a Volunteer you act as a guide, mentor and facilitator and along with the Young People help to organise and facilitate various fun activities and programs. These ADL's can include but are not limited to money management, use of public transport, social outings, preparing healthy meals and many more activities which have been decided upon through focus groups with the young people and their families. These ADL's will be incorporated into the weekly routine of the club in a fun and positive way.
