About Volunteer Stroke Scheme

Volunteer Stroke Scheme facilitate Stroke Support Groups which provide an opportunity for Stroke Survivors to come together on a weekly basis. As well as providing emotional support, the VSS clubs provide physiotherapy and brain challenging activities including quizzes, musical mornings, scrabble, and card games such as bridge.

What's Involved

Activities of the Support Groups are varied and can include:

  • Group physiotherapy sessions
  • Counselling for Patient, Spouse & Family
  • Day trips and outings
  • Respite breaks
  • Board Games
  • Cards
  • Boccia
  • Guest Speakers
  • Musical Mornings
  • Tea/Coffee & a Chat!

    We are looking for drivers to drive stroke patients to and from a Support Club in your area. The Clubs run from 10am to 12:30pm and are based in:
  • St. Bernadettes Parish Centre Crumlin
  • Taney Parish Centre, Dundrum
  • Stroke Support Group, Our Lady's Parish
  • Hall Castleknock
  • Stroke Support Group Scout's Hall Larch Hill, off Collins Ave Whitehall
  • Naas, Co. Kildare

    What's required for this position

    Access to own car. Patience, empathy and a people-person.

    Level of English required for this role:
    Intermediate English
