About ISPCA - Wicklow
For over a century, the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Wicklow has promoted the responsible custody of animals, prevented their cruelty, and rehabilitated and re homed countless numbers to better lives.
Over this time, the society has also become an intrinsic part of the Wicklow community and a focal point for social good, through volunteering, education, employment, fundraising and the promotion of rural sustainability.
What's Involved
Volunteers take the dogs in the Carousel & pens and exercise, walk and socialise them in the Dog Park on the premises. Training will be provided on the correct way to walk and socialise the dog.
The dogs come from different backgrounds so patience, care and understanding are essential. Volunteers are encouraged to lead train the dogs using gentle methods and at times be asked to wash and brush the dogs all under the supervision and direction of your Supervisor.
Volunteers will be offered a trial day for volunteering and if successful and happy with the role will then be asked to complete an application form and agree to the Volunteer Policy.
Volunteers needed all week.
What's required for this position
Active and fond of animals. Confident in dealing with dogs of different breeds and sizes. Reliable & willing to take instruction on the proper handling of the dogs in our care.
All volunteers must have an up to date Tetanus vaccination.
Volunteers need their own transport as there is no public transport to the centre
